I've been searching for a new concealer lately. My regular choice was empty, and was from a brand I was no longer comfortable supporting. It's hard to find a concealer that's vegan, cruelty-free, and pale enough to be used as a highlight on my ghostly skin. Whilst exploring Lush to revamp my skincare, I came across their Trix Stick Concealer and was immediately curious.

Trix Stick Concealer is a plastic-free stick concealer made with gentle, natural ingredients for a moisturising and smooth coverage. Instead of plastic packaging, the concealer stick sits in a cardboard case, and has black wax wrapped around the end as a handle. It's a tad messier than traditional packaging, as the stick leaves some residue in the cardboard, but it doesn't make it hard to use. The slight smudging inside the packaging is far outweighed by the benefits of ditching the single-use plastic.

Having been attached to the light and easy-to-blend nature of liquid concealer, I wasn't entirely sure I'd love a stick concealer. I hadn't used one since I was about 15, when I used a cheap stick that dragged under my eyes and didn't really blend. I was really pleasantly surprised to find Lush Trix Stick has a creamy formula with excellent coverage. It applies smoothly and is easy to blend, providing a subtle highlight on the nose, forehead, and under-eyes. Whilst the coverage and formula works well for me, it can be a little heavy on hotter days, so I wouldn't suggest it for someone who prefers light-wearing makeup. If, like me, you want flawless cover and don't mind makeup that's thicker, then this is the concealer for you.

I went for shade 1C, which is their lightest shade. It gives a slight highlight on my complexion, so I would love it if they released a white or true porcelain shade in the future for those of us who are incredibly pale. It's long-lasting, even on sweaty summer days, and when it does eventually start to fade, it doesn't become patchy. The stick itself lasts a long time too. I've had mine for almost a month, used it around 5 days each week, and it's still the same length as it was when I bought it. A little goes a long way!

Lush Trix Stick has far exceeded my expectations, and I'm delighted to have found a new concealer that's planet-friendly and ticks all of my boxes! It's now a staple of my makeup routine and something I can see myself repurchasing for years to come. Have you tried any plastic-free makeup? What did you think?
